WARDENS OF THE WORLD

Book 1: Hex Powers and Secrets

The Wardens of the World is a new middle-grade fantasy series for readers

aged roughly 9–13.

It takes the engine that makes mythology-driven fantasy the biggest category in children's publishing — an ordinary child pulled into a hidden magical world and roots it in something fresh: a small, present-day Swedish town where the old Norse myths turn out to be startlingly real.

Synopsis:

Twelve-year-old LIVIA HOLM — a red-haired misfit in a devout family led by her strict priest father — discovers she can move objects with her mind.

She is drawn into an ancient secret society, the Wardens of the World, housed in the very place her father forbids (the Skyburg), and given a mentor, a book of rituals, and training in her “hex power.”

She also meets ELEKTRA, a young telepath, and is shadowed by a mysterious green-eyed woman and a recurring dream of a man with ice-blue eyes who warns that she can only be betrayed by those she trusts.

Interviewing the reclusive former film star NINA KOVANKO for the school paper, Livia learns Nina too was once a Warden — and receives a warning: the ancient enemy LOKI may have returned, and the protection is failing.

Then Livia’s reckless private practice shatters her father’s prized antique clock, and her pious sister EMMA finds Livia’s hidden magic book and moves to expose her.

Livia is saved only when the family’s cleaner, secretly a Warden, blurs Emma’s and their father’s memories — revealing that the Wardens can quietly rewrite minds, and that Livia herself may once have been altered.

Summoned to the Skyburg at last, Livia meets the society’s founder, JAYNE HEIMDAHL — and realises she is the green-eyed watcher who has haunted her. Jayne explains that the Wardens guard humanity from the soulless “Shadows.”

Then the room goes dark, Elektra convulses, and LOKI speaks through her, straight to Livia: “you can only be betrayed by those you’ve chosen to trust.” He has returned after seven years — and this, Livia understands, is only the beginning...

WARDENS OF THE WORLD

Book 2: The Pain-Bearer’s Curse

— Synopsis

A new school year in Skybury. LIVIA HOLM’s telekinesis is growing stronger, and a second, secret gift — the power to see energy itself — begins to stir.

A new classmate, GABRIEL GRANAT, unsettles her, and she distrusts him — until she finds him near death, his life-force torn out by LOKI. Livia levitates the dying boy through the forest to the Skyburg, where the Wardens battle to save him, and the reluctant healer they summon, RAFAELA, proves to be Gabriel’s own grandmother.

Gabriel is a Pain-Bearer, one who heals by carrying others’ suffering — and Loki preys on such gifts to soothe the darkness inside himself. The rescue unearths a buried truth: Loki was once a Warden, until a mission with Gabriel’s mother, BARRA, poisoned him with darkness; days later he drained her life and left her to die. Rafaela, crushed by guilt, had long ago abandoned the Wardens — but now rejoins to train her grandson, while Gabriel vows to stop Loki. Worse news follows: Loki has stolen the iron ring from Witch Mountain and is gathering “the Power,” the relics that must never be united.

As Livia and Gabriel’s wary suspicion warms into friendship — and something more — the town itself sours: neighbours grow fearful and distrustful, ELEKTRA behaves ever more strangely (a dark shimmer flickering around her), and a girl who signs herself “T” texts Gabriel that she is coming soon. Then, home sick, Livia follows her cat into a locked, forbidden outbuilding on the family farm and finds a hidden room: maps of the world’s places of power all threaded to the Skyburg, the blood-red eye of Loki labelled “KAKO MATI,” and a single pin marking her own house.

Someone in her family has been keeping this room.

In the epilogue, the reader learns who. Livia’s own mother, BETH, begs Jayne to let her tell Livia the truth — but Jayne forbids it: to know how deeply her mother is bound to the Wardens would make Livia a target. Livia has stumbled to the very edge of a secret that is already her inheritance.

Walla - The Wishing Ring (Önskeringen)

When Aminah, Tariq, Moe and My get to know each other – they discover, to their surprise, that some wishes can actually come true.

Even wishes which at first can seem impossible, can turn out to be perfectly possible if you just help them a little on the way.

But the innermost wishes one carries, surely they cannot come true?

Not the wishes one hasn’t even told any other living person?

How can a wish come true, if noone else knows about them?

In fairy tales, fantasy can sometimes become reality.

Reality can sometimes be like a fairy tale.

The Wishing Ring is set in Vivalla in Örebro, one of many so called "Million program areas" in Sweden. It is written like a classic tale in a contemporary costume and with aromas from the classical Arabic fairytale treasure.

The story is purpose written in a prose that young people can relate to. And in a way so that all words and concepts are not traditionally Swedish.

The characters are brought to life with the help of a series of interviews made with three young girls who live and work in the actual housing area in Örebro.
